Mi-Life insurance provides money in the event of death of the subscriber or the next of kin.The Premium payment for insurance will be deducted from your MTN Mobile Money wallet once per month. You will receive an SMS to inform you when the monthly premium is deducted and insurance cover is renewed.

Once the premium is deducted, the insurance cover lasts for one month until the next monthly premium is deducted.If there are insufficient funds in your wallet, you will receive an SMS reminder so that you can top up your wallet and keep your life insurance cover active.However, if you do not top up your wallet within 30 days of your previous deductions to meet your insurance cover, you and your next of Kin will not be covered for that month. So make sure you top up your wallet.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Insurance cover is effective as of the date of 1st premium payment from the MTN Mobile Money wallet .  Coverage lasts for one calendar month from each premium payment.The policy is renewable by monthly debit from the MTN Mobile Money wallet.
  2. All insured persons must be aged 18-75, resident in Ghana, and should be in good health as at enrolment. Only enrolled persons will be eligible for benefits
  3. Claims must be presented within 30 days of death. Claims will be paid via the claimant’s MTN Mobile Money account within five working days of receipt of verification documents by the underwriter.
  4. In the event  of a claim, any of the following documents are required to confirm the death:Death Certificate, Medical Report, Burial Permit or any other form of documentation agreed by the insurer.
  5. A waiting period of 3 months for death as a result of natural causes will be in force from the start date of the policy.
  6. No Waiting Period for the death from an Accident.
  7. If the subscriber increases the cover, the previous cover level will be in force for 3 months.
  8. If the subscriber changes the next of kin, only accidental deaths will be covered for a  period of 3 months.
  9. Only a maximum of 2 claims will be honoured should there be the same next of kin on more than 2 policies.
  10. Claims will not be paid for deaths resulting from:
    • Suicide or self-inflicted injury
    • War, insurrection or civil commotion
    • Criminal action or intake of drugs or alcohol
    • Aviation other than as a passenger on a recognized airline
  11. This policy does not attract paid-up or surrender value
  12. The policy is terminated on the death of the subscriber, subscriber cancellation, one month plus ten days after receipt of most recent premium payment or any other arrangement agreed between MTN and the insurer.
  13. In the event where the policy is re-instated within 30 days after the last premium, there will be no waiting period. However, waiting period will apply after the 30th day when the last premium was received.
